(AP) ? LeBron James got cramps, Ray Allen was snubbed and Dwyane Wade was steaming.

None of that spoiled the Miami Heat mood on ring night.

Wade scored 29 points, James finished 26 points and 10 rebounds while missing much of the second half because of cramps in both legs, and the reigning NBA champion Heat beat the Boston Celtics 120-107 on Tuesday night in the season opener for both teams.

There were actual fireworks before the game to close the ceremony where the Heat got their championship rings and raised their title banner. There also were plenty of figurative fireworks late, first with Boston almost digging out of a 19-point hole and, after the outcome was decided, Rajon Rondo flagrantly fouling Wade by wrapping his arms around his neck on a drive.

In the end, though, the first Celtics-Heat matchup of this season was like the final one of last season ? with Miami winning.

"It was good to cap this night off with a win," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. "It was an emotional time for all of us in our organization."

Even for the newcomers, like Allen. He scored 19 points ? needing only seven field goal attempts ? in his first game with Miami since leaving Boston over the summer. Chris Bosh had 19 points and 10 rebounds for Miami.

Allen got chants from the Heat crowd, which is nothing new. Except this time, they were positive.

"Never thought I'd hear that here," Allen said.

Paul Pierce scored 23 points, Rondo finished with 20 points and 13 assists, and Leandro Barbosa scored 16 for Boston. The Celtics, who lost to the Heat in last season's Eastern Conference finals, were not on the court for the ring ceremony.

They almost wrecked the festive mood with a late comeback.

An 11-2 run late in the fourth quarter got Boston within 111-107 on Courtney Lee's layup with 2:09 left. That was the last Celtics' hurrah ? Bosh scored the game's next seven points, sealing it for Miami.

"I thought they were the aggressor the whole game," Celtics coach Doc Rivers said. "They got on the floor where they wanted to get on the floor. They took us out of stuff that they wanted to."

Rashard Lewis scored 10 points for Miami, which held on even while James, last season's MVP of both the regular season and NBA Finals, was in the locker room for the second time because of the cramps, first in his right leg and then his left.

"It's not an all-the-time thing," James said. "I'm not too worried about it."

The Heat got their championship rings from owner Micky Arison before the game, then watched the banner get hoisted to the rafters. More emotion came late, when Wade drove past Rondo ? and the Celtics guard grabbed Wade around the neck. Wade appeared as though he was ready to throw the ball at Rondo in retaliation, and stopped himself.

"I thought he hooked me," Rondo said.

Wade had a different opinion.

"It was a punk play by him," Wade said. "The league will take care of it. He clotheslined me, with two hands."

So Rondo raised eyebrows by putting hands on Wade. Kevin Garnett made news by not offering his hand to Allen.

As Allen entered the game for the first time, he trotted toward the Boston bench, exchanging a handshake, embrace and a few words with Rivers, who hasn't hidden his displeasure about his former shooting guard's decision to sign with Miami and didn't sound certain before the game how he would react when he saw Allen in Miami colors. Allen then briskly shook hands with a few assistant coaches.

But when Allen tried to engage Garnett, the mutual pleasantries ended. Allen tapped Garnett on the shoulder as he sat on the Boston bench; Garnett didn't even flinch, staring straight ahead, refusing to acknowledge the gesture in any way.

"I was just trying to focus as much as I could. I am such an intense person," Garnett said. "It was a blank. Obviously he's on the other side. It's time to play the game, man."

Allen didn't seem flustered. His first shot in a Miami uniform was ? what else? ? a corner 3-pointer, which swished.

"He was by himself in the corner," Rivers said. "You'd think we'd know better."

Miami controlled much of the first half, taking a 62-54 lead after James went by Pierce and Garnett for a two-handed dunk and yell for the crowd.

The first Heat angst of the season came in the third quarter, when James walked slowly to the bench after a timeout with 4:40 remaining, favoring his right leg and then headed out the tunnel toward the locker room.

When he left, the Miami lead was 79-70.

When he returned to open the fourth quarter, the lead was 93-76. The Heat scored the final eight points of the third, with Bosh, Allen, Mario Chalmers and Lewis all scoring in the final 2:17 to give the Heat their biggest lead of the game.

James ? who was dealing with a cramping issue, like he experienced at times in last season's NBA Finals ? opened the fourth quarter with a jumper to extend the run to 10-0, and Miami seemed well on its way. But he returned to the locker room a short time later, the cramps having flared up again.

"Once you start cramping, there's nothing you can do about it," James said.

Jeff Green, who had season-ending surgery for an aortic aneurysm last January, played in a game that counts for the first time since May 11, 2011 ? also in Miami, when the Heat ousted the Celtics from that season's playoffs. Green finished with three points in 23 minutes.

NOTES: Wade passed the 15,000-point mark for his career early in the second quarter, becoming the 123rd player in NBA history to reach that mark, according to STATS LLC. ... Rondo had at least 10 assists for the 25th straight regular-season game. ... The Celtics allowed 62 points in the first half; they gave up 62 or more only seven times in 379 regular-season and playoff games over the past four seasons. ... Miami players wore sneakers with gold somewhere in the color scheme; James' were primarily gold ? in honor of the ring ? and trimmed in white and red.

I?m having a hard time staying in the moment and staying healthy and not just quitting. Quitting ?recovery?? That sounds weird but it seems right. Just quit, stop trying. It?s hard!!! Especially right now with all this stress and her being in so much pain and there is nothing I can do. I was studying for a test earlier and woke up with my face in my book, I didn?t even realize I was that tired. Every time I get in my car I get a stomach ache really bad and I feel sick and irritable. Like I posted a couple nights ago I want to SI, the kind of urge that is intense and won?t budge! It?s driving me crazy and I just want to do it to stop the thoughts and the urge. Sometimes it feels physical, like an exciting sensation. Exciting all over and in big waves and then it?s not exciting all, it?s longing and I miss it. I went through the whole ritual yesterday, from hiding away in private to cleaning to holding the tool to my skin. I didn?t plan on going through with it, I just missed it and so I went that far. Then I got that tingling good exciting feeling inside and then I got scared I?d really do it then I put it away. What is going on :( I?m doing this to myself and now I feel ashamed and stupid because I let myself do that and feel good for a second. REALLY good and I liked it and I feel alone and uncomfortable and stressed out and scared and I am not feeling hopeful. I want to be comforted :(

University of Michigan News Service | U-M launches $9 million effort ...

espanol

ANN ARBOR?A new $9 million University of Michigan Great Lakes research and education center will guide efforts to protect and restore the world's largest group of freshwater lakes by reducing toxic contamination, combating invasive species, protecting wildlife habitat and promoting coastal health.

With a $4.5 million, three-year grant from the Fred A. and Barbara M. Erb Family Foundation, the new University of Michigan Water Center will provide a solid scientific framework for more efficient and effective Great Lakes restoration.

U-M scientists and their partners across the region will use research and on-the-ground collaboration to inform Great Lakes restoration projects. The initiative was announced today by U-M President Mary Sue Coleman, who said the university will add an additional $4.5 million to the project over three years.

Image credit: Michigan Sea Grant"As a university, we need to take on ownership and responsibility of regional sustainability challenges that affect us, close to home and where our expertise can have enormous impact.? The U-M Water Center will do that," Coleman said. "I want to thank the Erb Family Foundation for supporting our work and, more important, for continually pushing us to do more."

During its first three years, the center will focus on identifying and filling critical science gaps in the four focus areas of the federal Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI): removing toxic contamination and restoring regions of environmental degradation known as areas of concern; combating invasive species; protecting and restoring wildlife and their habitats; and ridding nearshore waters of polluted runoff.

Photo by Jim EricksonU-M researchers examine a load of quagga mussels pulled from the bottom of Lake Michigan during a 2009 voyage. Photo by Jim EricksonNumerous ongoing threats to the health of the lakes were the impetus for the Obama administration's establishment of the GLRI, the largest single source of funding ever focused on the Great Lakes. Administered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the GLRI has spent an unprecedented $1 billion on Great Lakes restoration projects in its first three years.

The new U-M Water Center will lead region-wide academic efforts to guide development of the next GLRI phase. It will engage with conservationists, policymakers, nonprofit groups and researchers across the Great Lakes states and in Canada.

"Our foundation is very pleased to provide U-M with this grant to identify and fill critical knowledge gaps and help develop a science framework for the restoration of the Great Lakes," said John Erb, president of the Erb Family Foundation. "The lakes are a unique and precious ecosystem that we must steward for the benefit of current and future generations. This regional and international engagement is essential at this critical stage in our stewardship of the Great Lakes."

The Erb Family Foundation envisions that efforts during the first three years of funding to the U-M Water Center will lead to:

  • More effective and powerful integration of scientific input for, and evaluation of, restoration and protection of the Great Lakes.
  • A stronger GLRI that more fully integrates science to support management actions and policy decisions, assesses environmental outcomes, and enhances current and future GLRI efforts.
  • More effective restoration efforts based on a deeper understanding of potential cumulative impacts of currently funded GLRI projects and assessment of remaining science and management gaps.
  • More efficient and effective restoration approaches for the Great Lakes basin and beyond.

Photo by Jim EricksonThe U-M Water Center will be administered by the Graham Sustainability Institute and will involve faculty and students from across the university, including the Cooperative Institute for Limnology and Ecological Research (CILER); Michigan Sea Grant; the School of Natural Resources and Environment; the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology; the Department of Atmospheric, Oceanic and Space Sciences; the College of Engineering; the School of Public Health; and the Ford School of Public Policy.

A portion of the initial funding will be used to hire three prominent Great Lakes scientists, adding depth to the U-M's research effort and offering new learning opportunities for students. Two of these scientists, Tom Nalepa and Gary Fahnenstiel, recently joined the U-M faculty from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory in Ann Arbor. Both are considered to be among the top Great Lakes scholars in the world. They will teach a new Great Lakes oceanography field methods course at the U-M Biological Station and a new Great Lakes science and management course at the Ann Arbor campus.

"While their immense size can make them seem indestructible, the Great Lakes are showing severe signs of stress and face unprecedented threats. The integrity of the Great Lakes ecosystem has been compromised in recent years, and many important plant and animal species are in decline or have been lost," said Nalepa, who is perhaps best known for his seminal work on invasive mussels, including zebra and quagga mussels, and their effects on Great Lakes communities.

Barbara and Fred ErbBarbara and Fred Erb"The Great Lakes region is one of unrivaled natural beauty and diverse wildlife habitat that provides drinking water to more than 40 million U.S. and Canadian citizens while supporting 1.5 million U.S. jobs," said U-M Provost Phil Hanlon. "With this support from the Erb Foundation, the University of Michigan Water Center is positioned to make important contributions to improve the health of critically important Great Lakes ecosystems."

The Great Lakes hold 20 percent of the world's surface freshwater. The region includes 10,000 miles of coastline and numerous globally rare plant and animal species. In addition, the Great Lakes support a wide range of recreational and economic activities, including vibrant tourism and a sport fishery industry that contributes $4 billion to the economy.

"The GLRI recognized the Great Lakes as nationally important both ecologically and economically, as a provider of myriad services upon which society depends," said aquatic ecologist and Graham Sustainability Institute Director Donald Scavia, special counsel to the U-M president on sustainability issues. "It has provided a unique opportunity to build and catalyze efforts leading to major improvements in the health of the Lakes."

While the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative has been widely praised, there is great interest in integrating a stronger science base into the projects and helping to assess their cumulative environmental and economic impacts. That is the primary near-term focus of U-M's new Water Center.

The center will follow a truly collaborative approach, including regularly convening the region's science leaders, policymakers, resource managers, and other stakeholders with the aim of enhancing regional dialogue and collaboration. "This is a much needed effort to engage the broader academic community, and we are excited to be a partner in building a stronger science base for Great Lakes restoration," said Val Klump, the associate dean for research in the School of Freshwater Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

As a first step in shaping the new center's mission, the Graham Sustainability Institute recently convened a group of more than 20 directors of U.S. and Canadian academic Great Lakes centers and institutes to discuss and develop science recommendations for the next phase of the GLRI. The group concluded that sound science must be an integral part of restoration projects.

Allen Burton, director of the new University of Michigan Water Center. Photo courtesy of Allen BurtonAllen Burton, director of the new University of Michigan Water Center. "Following the meeting, the group developed and has submitted to the Environmental Protection Agency a science strategy and implementation plan to consider for the next phase of the GLRI," said Professor Allen Burton, who will serve as director of the new center in addition to directing CILER. "Our science plan stresses that we need to determine which regions are under the greatest threat, identify factors most responsible for negatively impacting ecosystem health, and assess the effectiveness of restoration efforts over time."

To ensure broad-based input and information sharing across the Great Lakes community, the center will form an advisory group composed of science, policy and practitioner communities representing public (federal, state, tribal, local governments), private (relevant industries and/or industry associations), academic, environmental, non-governmental, and other citizen stakeholder organizations. The advisory group will provide input that helps guide future research projects undertaken by the U-M Water Center and will ensure broader communications across the Great Lakes basin.

The Fred A. and Barbara M. Erb Family Foundation was established in 2007 to institutionalize and perpetuate the family's philanthropy. The foundation's mission is to nurture environmentally healthy and culturally vibrant communities in metropolitan Detroit and to support initiatives to restore the Great Lakes basin. The foundation is particularly focused on improving water quality, especially in the watersheds impacting metropolitan Detroit and Bayfield, Ontario; promoting environmental health and justice; and supporting the arts as a means to revitalize the metropolitan Detroit region.

The U-M Water Center grant is the third grant from the Erb Foundation to the University of Michigan. In 2009, the foundation awarded $500,000 to a U-M-led research team for a project, known as the Great Lakes Environmental Assessment and Mapping project, or GLEAM, to comprehensively analyze and map various threats to the Great Lakes. Last year, the foundation provided a $200,000 challenge grant to fund third-year students at U-M Erb Institute for Global Sustainable Enterprise.

Text Messaging Mobile Cell Phone SMS | TOP NEWS

Why is Text Messaging so popular asked a very nice old lady at the coffee shop the other day. One gentleman near her stated; ?You really wouldn?t understand unless you try it.? Well, that does make sense doesn?t it? In review of this conversation on text messaging which lasted a good hour, it seems that the consensus is that text messaging, sending a quick thought to someone, is actually closer to how people communicate than was previously thought. As a writer of screen plays amongst other things, I always found it fascinating how many lines were just:
?Yes?
?Yeah Right?
?Okay by me?
?Sounds good?
?No way?
?See you then?
?Running late again?
Since humans communicate like this most often, it seems that text messaging fits into a nice niche between phone calls and emails, as it fills in the gap. Now that more and more people are trying text messaging and really digging it, more folks are looking at ways to save money, such as unlimited text messaging services on their cell phone bills. This begs one to ask, how can the old telephone system survive and profit if everyone is switching to cell phones and text messaging? Will the old standard phone service be a thing of the past? Many folks now are opting for cell phone service and disconnecting their phone lines to their home to save on their phone bills. It makes sense doesn?t it. Save a hundred dollars a month by turning off the home phone service, because you have to have a cell phone anyway, why have two phones? Text messaging is the wave of the future, even grandma thinks so now.

Full Dragon exits space station, Earth next stop

(AP) ? An unmanned Dragon freighter left the International Space Station on Sunday with a stash of precious medical samples and aimed for a Pacific splashdown to end the first official shipment under a billion-dollar contract with NASA.

Astronauts aboard the International Space Station used a giant robot arm to release the commercial cargo ship 255 miles up. The California-based SpaceX company will steer its capsule back to Earth via parachutes on Sunday afternoon, a couple hundred miles off the Baja California coast.

The supply ship is bringing back nearly 2,000 pounds of science experiments and old station equipment. Perhaps the most eagerly awaited cargo is nearly 500 frozen samples of blood and urine collected by station astronauts over the past year.

The Dragon is the only delivery ship capable of returning items, now that NASA's shuttles are retired to museums. Atlantis made the last shuttle haul to and from the station in July 2011.

SpaceX ? more formally Space Exploration Technologies Corp. ? launched the capsule three weeks ago from Cape Canaveral, full of groceries, clothes and other station supplies. Ice cream as well as fresh apples were especially appreciated by the station residents, now back up to a full crew of six.

It's the second Dragon to return from the orbiting lab; the first mission in May was a flight demo. This flight is the first of 12 deliveries under a $1.6 billion contract with NASA.

"It was nice while she was on board," space station commander Sunita Williams said as the Dragon backed away. "We tamed her, took her home and, literally and figuratively, there's a piece of us on that spacecraft going home to Earth."

She added to the SpaceX flight controllers in Hawthorne, Calif.: "Congratulations Hawthorne and thank you for her."

The Dragon will be retrieved from the Pacific and loaded onto a 100-foot boat that will haul it to Los Angeles. From there, it will be transported to McGregor, Texas.

The medical samples will be removed as quickly as possible, and turned over to NASA within 48 hours of splashdown, according to SpaceX. Everything else will wait for unloading in McGregor.

A Russian supply ship, meanwhile, is set to blast off this week. It burns up upon descent, however, at mission's end. So do the cargo vessels provided by Europe and Japan.

SpaceX is working to transform its Dragon cargo craft into vessels that American astronauts could fly in another four or five years. Until SpaceX or another U.S. company is able to provide rides, NASA astronauts must rely on Russian rockets to get to and from the space station.

Sandy and storm surge pose 'worst case scenario'

(AP) ? The projected storm surge from Hurricane Sandy is a "worst case scenario" with devastating waves and tides predicted for the highly populated New York City metro area, government forecasters said Sunday.

The more they observe it, the more the experts worry about the water ? which usually kills and does more damage than winds in hurricanes.

In this case, seas will be amped up by giant waves and full-moon-powered high tides. That will combine with drenching rains, triggering inland flooding as the hurricane merges with a winter storm system that will worsen it and hold it in place for days.

Louis Uccellini, environmental prediction chief for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, told The Associated Press that given Sandy's due east-to-west track into New Jersey, that puts the worst of the storm surge just north in New York City, Long Island and northern New Jersey. "Yes, this is the worst case scenario," he said.

In a measurement of pure kinetic energy, NOAA's hurricane research division on Sunday ranked the surge and wave "destruction potential" for Sandy ? just the hurricane, not the hybrid storm it will eventually become ? at 5.8 on a 0 to 6 scale. The damage expected from winds will be far less, experts said. Weather Underground meteorologist Jeff Masters says that surge destruction potential number is a record and it's due to the storm's massive size.

"You have a lot of wind acting over a long distance of water for hundreds of miles" and that piles the storm surge up when it finally comes ashore, Masters said. Even though it doesn't pack much power in maximum wind speed, the tremendous size of Sandy ? more than 1,000 miles across with tropical storm force winds ? adds to the pummelling power when it comes ashore, he said.

The storm surge energy numbers are bigger than the deadly 2005 Hurricane Katrina, but that can be misleading. Katrina's destruction was concentrated in a small area, making it much worse, Masters said. Sandy's storm surge energy is spread over a wider area. Also, Katrina hit a city that is below sea level and had problems with levees.

National Hurricane Center Director Rick Knabb said Hurricane Sandy's size means some coastal parts of New York and New Jersey may see water rise from 6 to 11 feet from surge and waves. The rest of the coast north of Virginia can expect 4 to 8 feet of surge.

The full moon Monday will add 2 to 3 inches to the storm surge in New York, Masters said.

"If the forecasts hold true in terms of the amount of rainfall and the amount of coastal flooding, that's going to be what drives up the losses and that's what's going to hurt," said Susan Cutter, director of the hazards and vulnerability research institute at the University of South Carolina.

Cutter said she worries about coastal infrastructure, especially the New York subways, which were shutting down Sunday night.

Klaus Jacob, a Columbia University researcher who has advised the city on coastal risks, said, "We have to prepare to the extent we can, but I'm afraid that from a subway point of view, I think it's beyond sheer preparations. I do not think that there's enough emergency measures that will help prevent the subway from flooding."

Knabb said millions of people may be harmed by inland flooding.

A NOAA map of inland and coastal flood watches covers practically the entire Northeast: all of Maryland, New Jersey, Delaware, and Connecticut; most of Pennsylvania, New York, Massachusetts and Vermont, and parts of northeastern Ohio, eastern Virginia, North Carolina, and western New Hampshire.

Along the mid-Atlantic coast, storm surge is already starting to build, Uccellini said. NOAA's Coastal Services Center chief Margaret Davidson said to expect "bodacious impacts" from both surge and inland flooding.

The surge ? in which water steadily increases from the ocean? will be worst in the areas north of where Sandy comes ashore.

New York will have the most intense storm surge if Sandy comes ashore anywhere in New Jersey, Uccellini said. Only if it arrives farther south, such as Delaware, will New York see a slightly, only slightly, smaller storm surge.

In general, areas to the south and west of landfall will get the heaviest of rains. Some areas of Delaware and the Maryland and Virginia peninsula will see a foot of rain over the several days the storm parks in the East, Uccellini said. The rest of the mid-Atlantic region may see closer to 4 to 8 inches, NOAA forecasts.

The good news about inland flooding is that the rivers and ground aren't as saturated as they were last year when Hurricane Irene struck, causing nearly $16 billion in damage, much of it from inland flooding in places like Vermont, Uccellini and Masters said.

The storm, which threatens roughly 50 million in the eastern third of the country, began as three systems. Two of those ? an Arctic blast from the north and a normal winter storm front with a low-pressure trough? have combined. Hurricane Sandy will meld with those once it comes ashore, creating a hybrid storm with some of the nastier characteristics of a hurricane and a nor'easter, experts have said.

Does Video Game Addiction Fix Itself? | World of Psychology

Does Video Game Addiction Fix Itself?Video game addiction ? also known as problem video gaming ? is an issue the media loves to hype (along with ?Internet addiction?). Such gaming addiction is hard to define, but like pornography, some professionals say they ?know it when they see it.?

One of the possible hypotheses put forth about these kinds of technology addictions back in 1999 was that what we were seeing wasn?t a behavioral addiction at all. Instead, it was suggested we were seeing the predictable adaptive behaviors of humans to unfamiliar stimuli in their lives. In this case, that stimuli was entertainment technology.

Emerging evidence suggests that this may be the case. And the really good news?

Video game addiction may resolve itself on its own ? simply with time.

The new research was a three-stage, longitudinal study designed to measure participants over an 18-month period. A total of 393 participants took part in an online survey advertised on Australian gaming websites. They were then asked to complete followup surveys at 6-month and 18-month intervals, with 117 participants doing so.

The surveys collected demographic information, video game playing behaviors, administered a problematic video game playing test, and depression, anxiety, and stress scales.

So what did the researchers find?

At baseline, there were 37 self-identified problem gamers, and 80 self-identified normal gamers. A criterion validity check found that problem gamers scored significantly higher on a test of problem video gaming symptoms (i.e., PVGT) at baseline than normal gamers. [...]

Both groups experienced a significant decline in problem gaming symptoms over an 18-month period, controlling for age, gaming activity, and psychopathological symptoms.

In other words, the self-identified problem gamers at the beginning of the study significantly reduced their problem gaming behavior 18 months later. So much so, they looked just like the ?normal? gamers at the end of the study ? their video gaming addiction had simply disappeared.

Previous research has found that problem gaming as a teen is the strongest predictor of future problem gaming as an adult. The current study, however, didn?t look at teens ? only adults.

Nonetheless, the researchers have some theories as to why they saw problem video gaming disappear:

An explanation for this general decline in problem gaming symptoms in both groups is not readily apparent based on these data although the concept of maturing out over time is well established in the addiction literature. Inspection of problem gaming trajectories may suggest that a spontaneous recovery effect occurred among all gamers, as has been observed in studies that have monitored problem gamblers not receiving treatment.

It may be that problem gaming symptoms at baseline generally represented the most severe stage of respondents? problem gaming habit, at which point problem symptoms remitted naturally over the course of the study.

The new study suggests that for most adults, video game addiction may very well resolve itself on its own over time.

If you can?t wait (or your relationship or work or studies can?t wait) for this possibility, it never hurts to see a mental health professional for a problem like this. A therapist can still help with problems of this nature, even if it?s not a formal diagnosis.

Dating Blog ? Share Your Dating and Relationship Advice with the ...

dating blog

Ever thought of sharing a lot of your experiences on a dating blog but didn?t know where to start? Well I?m sure there are a lot of you who have very interesting stories and advice to share throughout your dating life. You probably already share it with a lot of your friends and a lot of them may find it very interesting. Why not share it with everybody online and get paid for it? Yes, even the bad dates are worth something these days! Not just to serve as a lesson but also as good entertainment as well as a way to make good money online.

I am pretty sure you have a friend or two who loves to share their food choices or even fashion ideas throughout their social networks. Wouldn?t you think sharing your dating and relationship experience to people who may be interested or even be in need of whatever you?ve gone through? That?s just part of it. The thing is that there is also many ways to make money from this than you think.

Dating coaches on the internet obviously love to sell their programs or courses on the internet using their blogs. They also probably sell e-books on their dating blog to address certain problems and issues with finding the perfect match. Especially nowadays with online dating taking a huge turn and has become a lot more popular. A blog can certainly also be a way for people to get to know you better and perhaps even help you find some interesting people to connect and be friends with.

But you can also treat your dating blog like a business that can make you money. Think about most of how a lot of TV programmes or magazines make money. A lot of it is through advertising rather than selling products. There are different talk shows that address different themes and different topics and dating and relationships are no different.

Imagine if you blogged about your dates and your relationship advice and get a lot of people to connect with you while on the side, you have some ads or something valuable to offer. The process itself is not that complicated and simple to set up.

Is It Hard to Set up a Dating Blog If I?m New?

It?s not hard to set up a simple WordPress blog and just get started blogging. You can do pretty much anything you want after that. Pick a theme and start writing. Of course you will need to have some sort of budget to keep funding your dating. You can?t just get the other person to keep paying for you all the time. Of course there are ways you can get the other person to do it a few times but of course, you don?t want to be broke just in case.

The good thing is, you can make money from your dating blog to fund your dating using a range of methods. You can easily have your WordPress blog set up with Google Adsense which loads your blog up with related ads and you get paid every time someone clicks on them. The downside is that the commissions earned here can be measly in the beginning until you get a lot of traffic to your blog.

Another way is to have some sort of affiliate program, meaning you sell someone else?s stuff such as a dating course or e-book and get paid a commission on each sale. Those are just some of the ways you can make money and is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to online marketing.

Want to create the income to fund your dating life working part-time and earning 100% commissions? Click the link below and take your dating blog to the next level!

Undefeated fighter plans to get married, then fight on the same day

Louisiana fighter Kurt Holobaugh has had a very hot start to his mixed martial arts career. He has rattled off eight straight wins with seven professional fights and one amateur. To keep his hot streak going, Holobaugh will fight at Fight Force International's event in Biloxi, Miss., on Saturday.

Earlier that day, he has a little bit of business to take care of. He is going to get married on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico. The best part is that it was her idea.

"It was my wife's idea," Holobaugh told MMA Fighting. "Biloxi's a pretty city and she's a fan of the beach, so we're going to have a minister do a ceremony there. When we get home, we'll do a big reception and have family and team members down here. It should be good, it will be good to come home married and with a victory and celebrate."

Holobaugh is very smart to marry this woman. For the fighters out there, if you find a partner who shares your love of the sport so much that the wedding and a fight can fall on the same day, you lock it down.

U.S. CEOs call for action to reduce federal deficit

(Reuters) - Chief Executives of more than 80 big U.S. corporations, including Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan and Boeing, are getting together to pressure Congress to reduce the federal deficit with tax reform and spending cuts.

In a letter posted on the Wall Street Journal website late on Wednesday, the U.S. corporate chiefs said it is urgent and essential to put in place a plan to fix America's debt. The letter is due to be released on Thursday.

If Congress fails to reach a deficit reduction deal by the end of the year, it will automatically trigger big spending cuts and tax increases in 2013. This so-called "fiscal cliff" would hit the still-recovering U.S. economy hard.

The U.S. deficit in 2012 will top $1 trillion for a fourth straight year, pushing the national debt past $16 trillion. While the United States currently borrows at record low interest rates, investors worry this will change.

The CEOs' statement was organized by campaign called "Fix the Debt," which is urging Washington to set aside partisan differences to put the United States on a sustainable fiscal path.

"In order to develop a fiscal plan that can succeed both financially and politically, it must be bipartisan and reforms to all areas of the budget should be included," the CEOs said.

The corporate chiefs said the fiscal plan must include "comprehensive and pro-growth tax reform, which broadens the base, lowers rates, raises revenues and reduces the deficit."

Also, as part of the plan, the group urged the government to reform and improve the efficiency of healthcare programs like Medicare and Medicaid.

The CEO group said the recommendations of the bipartisan Simpson-Bowles Commission provides an effective framework for a fiscal plan. The commission's proposal has several options including trimming tax rates for all income groups.

Simpson-Bowles also calls for slashing many popular tax deductions and adding them back only selectively.

Carney Says Greek Debt Relief May Be Part of Solution | Canada ...

Mark Carney

Bank of Canada Governor Mark Carney said additional debt relief for Greece may be part of a way to help ease economic adjustment for the Mediterranean country.
In an interview with Sun News Network to be broadcast at 6 p.m. Ottawa time, Carney said the International Monetary Fund and the European Union are trying to ?smooth that path and lessen the adjustment as much as possible.?
?It is the current view that there is a way, through a combination of money through the IMF and European authorities, additional measures by the Greeks, maybe some additional debt relief, that that is the best path for Greece,? said Carney, according to a transcript provided by Sun News.
Carney, who is also the chairman of the Financial Stability Board charged by Group of 20 leaders to coordinate global financial reforms, said Europe is the biggest risk to the global economy in the ?medium-term? because of the challenges associated with ?re-creating? the region?s monetary union.

Panetta: Cannot let al-Qaida hide in north Africa

WASHINGTON (AP) ? Senior U.S. defense leaders are working with allies on a plan to deal with al-Qaida- linked militants in Mali and elsewhere in the North Africa region, with American assistance likely to center on intelligence and logistical support and not troops on the ground.

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta told reporters at the Pentagon Wednesday that the U.S. must work with nations in the region to ensure that al-Qaida has no place to hide and expand its capabilities.

Panetta provided no details on what the U.S. would be willing to do, and officials say no final decisions have been made. But senior Defense Department leaders have been in France for the recent meetings on the matter, including assistant defense secretary Michael Sheehan and deputy assistant secretary Amanda Dory. U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Johnnie Carson was also at the Paris talks, which began on Monday.

A senior U.S. diplomat said there is very little appetite in the U.S. to intervene in Mali without the express agreement of the Malian government and as part of a strategy laid out by ECOWAS, the alliance of West Africa nations.

Officials are discussing plans for an African-led military offensive against al-Qaida-linked militants in northern Mali. U.S. Gen. Carter Ham, head of U.S. Africa Command, has said the U.S. would not put boots on the ground there, but would be able to provide other assistance, including intelligence gathering and other support.

There are only about a dozen members of a U.S. military team in Mali as part of the normal embassy staff and security.

Officials have linked al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb to the attack at the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi. AQIM's leaders are known to be largely in northern Mali, operating out of safe havens there.

Are savings accounts good investments?

During the recent recession years, investors have watched their opportunities decline. Retirees on fixed incomes were depending on the interest from their bank investments to supplement their pensions. Unfortunately, bank investments are slightly better than putting your savings under your mattress.

Building a nest egg for retirement appears to be almost impossible. Rates that banks are paying cannot possibly keep up with inflation. Long-term investments are discouraging because your money is locked in for a few years, and it might be worthless at the maturity date.

What investments are best for you?
Everyone wants to get the best return on his or her investments. However, each person has different financial needs, and different opportunities that fluctuate with the amount of money available for investing. Certainly, those with little to invest would not want to invest in high-interest risky investments. However, people who can afford the loss on an investment should take higher risks.

Nevertheless, the average family should plan a budget that includes money for both safe and high-risk investments. The safe investments should be firmly in place before the high-risk investments are made. Your safe deposits should be available immediately in case a financial interruption occurs.

Pay Yourself First
The secret for having enough retirement income is to pay yourself first. It is never too early to begin making monthly deposits to your retirement accounts. The sooner you begin, the more you will accumulate. Furthermore, the amount of the deposit does not need to be large. However, it must be consistent.

Money that you never see, such as taxes withheld, is never missed. You should treat your personal savings in the same manner. Your savings-account payment should be as regular as your home mortgage.

Finding Money for Savings
Every budget begins with listing all of your income and expenses. By subtracting the expenses from the income, you have the discretionary spending amount. The first item allocated from this amount is your savings account. Be realistic in determining the amount you wish to save. Remind yourself that the amount is a regular payment made to yourself.

The Beauty of Savings Accounts
Although investing in long-term investments will give you higher interest, your money is not available without penalty. Checking accounts pay almost no interest, but your money is currently available for any emergency. Therefore, you should find a savings account that pays the highest interest. For example,?visit Discover Bank for more information.

Savings accounts are ideal for a young couple to save for a home down payment. Young parents can easily use savings accounts to save for their children?s education. Even the average family can take advantage of the high-interest rates to save for retirement.

Savings accounts have the advantage of keeping your cash available, and rewarding you if you do not need to withdraw it. During these times of low-interest rates and economic uncertainty, savings accounts appear to be one of the best options for you.

Do I have a addiction? - SgForums.com

Need some serious advice / or simply hear me out.

I've been lurking around here on and off once in a blue moon and there's something bothering me for a long time and I need to get it off my mind.

I'm a working professional, below 30, getting married next year, we even bought our own BTO. I have a healthy and loving r/s with my gf who is a SQ cabin crew. She's?pretty, has very nice body and all. A lot of people may be envious of what I have, but inside I actually felt very lonely (or not enough). She gives me a lot of attention but whenever she is overseas I crave to resolve my insatiable desire for sex / hook-ups.

I actually have a list of contacts of flings to talk to and hang out with whenever she is overseas (which she often is). I went dinner/drinking/clubbing with them behind my gf's back. I know it's wrong but I can't help it. I just enjoy the thrill of the danger and also the company of the girls. We never have sex but mostly some light petting and kissing.

Now by no means are the girls whores. They are also working professionals, some with bf as well. It's just we have had a long lasting relationship flirting and such, and I know my way around with girls :)

I don't know what's wrong with me. When my gf is with me I am perfectly fine of course. But when she's not around, I feel like a dog looking around for a bitch to fuck (without the fuck of course).

And the worst thing is, I may have a crush on her younger sister as well. She just turned 20 and I have already went clubbing with her once (just me and her). Though she looks up to me as a brother and a future brother-in-law, I don't know how I can control my advances on her.

I'm not ready to visit a shrink because I know I'm not sick. Do I have a sex addiction? If so, how can I change? I have a addiction to porn as well and I can mast multiple times a day. Please help!

Personally, that depends heavily on your perception of what defines a 'cheating behaviour' - apparently, you seemed cool about having light petting and kisses with others, hence your thoughts about having 'no sex' non-committed flirting relationship might seem to be 'alright' to you - but I doubt your other half could readily accept this arrangement unless this is an open relationship.

It is always good to seek additional help if you could you feel that you are losing control. However, I just want to caution you one important thing: it is easy to give ourselves a label of 'addiction' so as to abnegate your responsibility of your action because we often 'attribute' the cause of our action to our 'addiction', when in fact it is but a matter of choice.

For example, have you encounter times when you need to pee, but because of that fact that you are in the middle of a conversation/meeting, you actually made the choice to hold your toilet trip until the conversation ends? Surely, peeing is a natural biological urge and it seemed crazy to stop yourself from going to the loo - we do put ourselves in discomforting situation unconsciously, due to variety of reasons.?

The only difference between my above analogy is that choosing to go to the toilet abruptly is unlikely to bring about serious repercussion from your significant other, while having sex with someone else behind your gf's back is a morally questionable choice. You could say that I have a 'sex addiction' and I have 'no choice' but to keep a list of numbers so that I could pick from the list randomly whenever I wanted, so as to satisfy my physical needs.?

However, the point is that keeping this option in this fashion is likely to ruin your relationship in the long run. Surely you could remain the way you are, but your outcome is clear - it is a destructive road ahead unless significant changes could manifest. In some cases, you might not get a second chance. If your deemed that this relationship is important to you, then given your current lifestyle, realistically, it does not help you to stay 'dry' and instead, promote this 'old' behaviour in an exceeding dangerous manner (clubbing/flirting/excessive engagement in porn, etc)

I can see that you are contemplating; however, the choice between contemplation and commitment towards resolution on your issue is usually separated by one huge chasm - whether we really want to resolve it. If not, it will end up like having eczema on your last finger - we don't usually give a damn about it until our skin start cracking, bleeding and flaking.?

P.S: Myth buster number one: you don't have to be sick in order to see a professional. You could see a counsellor and just have a chat to understand about the scope of your problem.?icon_idea.gif

Cheers? ?
