Position Description: The Institute of Physiology at the Christian-Albrechts University of Kiel headed by Prof. Dr. Thomas Baukrowitz offers a PhD position in the field of membrane biophysics.?We seek highly motivated and outstanding candidates interested in questions about structure-function relationships of ion channels in respect to their physiological function. Our group focuses on a combinatory approach of electrophysiology, computational methods such as molecular dynamics and molecular biology to study molecular mechanisms, characteristics, and functional roles of potassium channels. They will join an active group involved in international collaborations.

Qualification:

The PhD applicants should have a Master?s degree or comparable degree in biology, biochemistry, physics, pharmacy or in a related subject that entitles you to do the PhD at a state or state-recognized higher education institution in Germany. Preferred candidates will have experience in electrophysiology or patch clamp.

We Offer:

The position also includes participation in teaching (physiology), travel funds, where interaction with experienced experimentalists will be available. Salary and working hours are in accordance with the funding guidelines of the state of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany (0.5 x E-13).

Fluency in both written and spoken English or German is required.
