Piedmont Hospital to invest nearly $9M; add 50 jobs in ICU upgrades

Piedmont Healthcare will invest nearly $9 million in intensive care unit upgrades at its Buckhead hospital, to keep pace with demand.

The project, which will result in 50 new nursing jobs, involves renovating a nearly 9,000 square foot Intensive Care Unit and adding an 11,000 square foot ICU.

The renovation will result in all private patient rooms and improve workflow and efficiency. The new ICU will have 18 private rooms.

The renovation is expected to be complete by late spring, or early summer. But first, Piedmont must go through the state?s certificate-of-need (CON) process, where health regulators need to be convinced, among other things, that the planned project is necessary.
